These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of the website and services provided by Pro-Metrics OÜ. By accessing our website and contracting our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Pro-Metrics OÜ is an academic publishing house engaged in:

  • Publishing scholarly books and journals under open-access or hybrid models. The majority of publications are released under Creative Commons licenses (default: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), while certain institutional or co-published editions may apply alternative licenses or access conditions. Print and digital commercial editions may also be available under specific agreements.
  • Offering editorial services, including:
    • Translation of academic works.
    • Style editing and proofreading.
    • Editorial design and layout for books and journals.

Print-on-Demand (POD) book distribution is managed through third-party providers (e.g., Amazon). Pro-Metrics OÜ does not directly sell or distribute printed copies.

  1. Purchases, Payments, and Taxes

  • Purchases of editorial services or digital downloads may be made using a credit card, bank transfer, or Stripe.
  • All prices are displayed in euros (EUR).
  • VAT is applied as follows:
    • EU-based companies without a valid VAT number.
    • Estonian companies.
    • EU individuals.
  • Non-EU companies and individuals: VAT is not charged.

  1. Delivery

  • Print-on-Demand books: purchased through third-party providers (e.g., Amazon). Delivery and timelines are governed exclusively by those providers.
  • Digital downloads (PDF, EPUB): available immediately after purchase.
  • Editorial services: delivery timelines are agreed individually with each client.

  1. Refunds and Returns Policy

  • Printed books (POD): As Pro-Metrics OÜ does not sell POD books directly, we cannot process refunds or returns for purchases made through third-party providers. These are subject exclusively to the provider’s policies (e.g., Amazon).
  • Digital downloads: Non-refundable once accessed or downloaded.
  • Editorial services (APCs, translation, editing, design): Refunds are not provided once services have been delivered, except in cases of error or non-performance attributable to Pro-Metrics OÜ.

  1. Academic Disclaimer

  • Authors and editors are solely responsible for the content of their works.
  • Pro-Metrics OÜ is not liable for any copyright infringements or unauthorized use of third-party materials included in submitted works. Authors must ensure they have obtained all necessary permissions.
  • Published works are intended for academic and informational purposes only and do not constitute legal, medical, or professional advice.

  1. Limitation of Liability

  • Pro-Metrics OÜ will not be liable for delays, errors, or interruptions in third-party services (e.g., POD distribution, hosting, indexing databases).
  • We disclaim liability for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of our website, publications, or services.

  1. Copyright and Intellectual Property

  • Authors retain copyright to their own contributions (articles, chapters, monographs).
  • Editors retain copyright to the collective volumes they compile.
  • Pro-Metrics OÜ retains the right to distribute, archive, and commercialize print or digital editions under the terms of the publishing agreement.
  • By default, scholarly works are published under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license.
  • However, some publications —especially institutional, sponsored, or co-published editions— may apply different Creative Commons licenses or specific contractual terms, which are explicitly indicated on the respective publication’s page or front matter.
  • The website content, design, and structure (excluding scholarly publications) are © Pro-Metrics OÜ and may not be reused without written permission.
  • Unauthorized reproduction or redistribution of materials outside the applicable license or contract is prohibited.

8.1 Licensing Transparency

  • Each publication page or file clearly indicates the applicable Creative Commons license. This ensures transparency and compliance with international open-access standards. The default license for open-access works is CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, unless otherwise stated.

  1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Estonian law and applicable EU regulations. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Estonian courts.

We may update these Terms periodically. The effective date of the latest version will always be displayed at the top of this page.
