Editorial Guidelines for Books

At Pro-Metrics, we welcome proposals across all academic disciplines. Whether you are preparing a research monograph, an edited volume, a textbook, an illustrated book, conference proceedings, or a conference abstract, we provide a professional publishing environment with rigorous standards.

1. Aims and Scope

We publish scholarly works in all disciplines, including the sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, health, and multidisciplinary fields.

Our book program also supports:

2.Before You Submit

2.1 Editorial Policies

Pro-Metrics adheres to the best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We are committed to transparent, ethical, and rigorous publishing.

Please review our Ethical Publishing Policies before submission.

2.1.1 Authorship

  • All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the work.
  • Gift, guest, or ghost authorship is not permitted.
  • A Contribution Statement following the CRediT taxonomy is required.
  • A designated Corresponding Author will serve as the communication link with the Editorial Office.

2.1.2 Conflict of Interest

All authors must declare potential conflicts of interest, including:

  • Financial support or institutional funding.
  • Patents, copyrights, or royalties.
  • Personal or professional relationships that may bias content.

If none exist, include: “The author(s) declare no conflict of interest.”

2.1.3 Research Data, Reproducibility, and Transparency

We encourage open data practices:

  • Deposit data in a public repository.
  • Provide supplementary files.
  • Share data on request.

Cite data according to the Joint Declaration of Data Citation Principles.

2.1.4 Data Consent Statement

Authors are encouraged to provide a data availability statement, e.g.:

  • “Data are available at [repository URL].”
  • “Data are included as supplementary files.”
  • “No new data were generated.”

2.1.5 Open Access and Copyright

  • Most books are published in open-access formats.
  • Default license: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.
  • Alternative models (sponsored, institutional, or hybrid) may be applicable.

3. Book and Chapter Preparation

3.1 Book Structure

Front matter:

  • Title page (mandatory)
  • Foreword / Preface (optional)
  • Acknowledgments / Dedication (optional)
  • About this book (mandatory)
  • Table of contents (mandatory)

Main matter:

  • Chapters (organized into parts, if applicable)

Back matter:

  • About the author(s) (optional)
  • Appendices (optional)
  • List of abbreviations (optional)

3.2 Chapter Structure

  • Title page
  • Abstract (optional; mandatory in English if written in Spanish or Portuguese)
  • Keywords (optional)
  • Main text with clear headings/subheadings
  • Funding statement (if applicable)
  • Acknowledgments (if applicable)
  • References (APA 6th or 7th edition recommended)
  • Appendices (if applicable)

3.3 Text Formatting

  • Submit chapters in Word (.docx) using our official template.
  • Line spacing: 1.5 | Font: Times New Roman, 10 pt.
  • Sections numbered hierarchically (1., 1.1., 1.1.1.).
  • Pages numbered consecutively.

3.4 Additional Files

  • Conflict of interest statement (if applicable)

  • Figures in JPG, TIFF, or PNG (≥300 dpi)

3.5 Language

  • English, Spanish, or Portuguese accepted.
  • Consistency in spelling required (US or UK).
  • Non-native authors should seek professional language support.

3.6 Figures, Tables, Abbreviations, References

  • Figures/tables numbered consecutively.
  • Figures submitted both inline and as separate files.
  • APA style for in-text citations and references.

3.7 Funding Disclosure

E.g., “This research received funding from [Institution/Grant number].”

 

4.Post-Submission

  • Books are first screened by internal editors.
  • If suitable, they undergo external peer review (normally two reviewers).
  • Decisions: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, reject.
  • Authors receive detailed reviewer comments.

5.After Acceptance

5.1 Proofreading

Authors will receive proofs to check completeness, author details, numbering of tables/figures, and references. Only minor corrections can be made at this stage.
